Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery.

Minor injuries and surgery

We are now able to see and treat, or refer patients with minor injuries.

The recommended injuries we can treat are:

  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Bites
  • Stings
  • Cuts
  • Bruises

Our clinicians are also approved to perform minor surgery services, such as:

  • Joint injections
  • Excision of some skin lesions

Immunisations

The practice offers all routine immunisations to children and adults as recommended by the government.

Children

If you have any concerns about your child’s immunisation, please book an appointment.

Adults

Adults do not usually need any routine boosters if they have had all of their childhood immunisations, but a tetanus booster may be necessary if a tetanus prone wound is sustained, e.g. a dog bite, a cut on a rusty nail or a wound that occurred in the garden.

Foreign travel

Immunisations including tetanus and polio may be needed and can take up to two months to complete.

Travel vaccines take varying lengths of time to confer maximum protection and therefore need to be given well in advance of the date of travel. Therefore we request that travel health questionnaires need to be submitted, wherever possible, at least 8 weeks prior to travel.

Due to appointment capacity and the need to continue providing essential services such as the childhood immunisation programme, cancer screening and wound care etc travel health appointments are limited to one patient per day.

Alternatively there are independent travel clinics and some pharmacies offering these services privately.

Please complete a Travel Risk Assessment form, available on Rapid Health, well in advance (at least 6 weeks before you travel) for the appropriate advice, if required, an appointment will be arranged.

If a second appointment is required, it will need to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

We offer a full travel advice and immunisation service.

Contraception and emergency contraception

The doctors and nurses are all able to give contraceptive advice. We offer a full range of contraceptive methods including the fitting of coils.

If emergency contraception is required it must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

For emergency contraception, please complete a triage form, available on Rapid Health, in person or telephoning the surgery.

We also offer coils and implants – please contact the surgery in person or via telephone.
